Providing students with reflection and strategies to help them perform under pressure
I’m sure we can all remember times as an adult where little issues got the better of us and we wished we were better equipped to handle them. Shut the Duck Up understands that young people often struggle with daily problems, which if not managed appropriately, can get out of control and feel insurmountable. It is often the case that faulty thinking and negative self-talk lead to young people not being able to manage daily stressors that then become bigger than expected.
About the program
Shut the Duck Up helps young people understand that the way they think and feel about their issues significantly determine how they will address them. By educating young people in common types of faulty thinking and new ways of proactively navigating pressure situations, small issues can be dealt with quickly and effectively.
While changing your thoughts and actions can seem overwhelming for young people, Shut the Duck Up takes them through a very effective strategy to label their pressure situation, the faulty thinking associated with it and how it effects them physically. From here the program explores how that thinking can be challenged and what proactive and reactive strategies can be utilised for a favourable outcome.
Shut the Duck Up is perfect for schools looking to support secondary school students to better navigate those day to day issues that tie them in knots, exam stress and those wanting to improve sporting performance.
